Beauty in Form and Material
In strong contrast to arty-crafty mass products
that
only detract from the high esteem of amber,
these are
unique pieces.
Manfred Schwarz lets himself be inspired by the mysterious
world under water. In this manner, bizarre creatures evolve
in a unique syntax of forms that enchant the beholder through
delicate details and surprising light effects.
The process of developing an amber sculpture is
very
time-consuming. First the form is sawn out
roughly,
fine modelling is accomplished through
filing and shaping. Then begins the time-consuming
labour of
grinding with increasingly finer grains.
Finally the piece is polished.
In order to make it more expressive, Manfred Schwarz likes to combine
amber with other precious natural materials like ebony (old), tagua nut,
precious stones, pearls and gold.
